It’s sad when the people who run Cook County and Chicago resemble organized criminals. Really, really dreadful behavior is not only tolerated, but rewarded. When groups who were previously excluded from power finally get power, they demand the right to act as badly and corruptly as the previous generation. It’s not unlike watching prison gangs compete for turf and domination.
Yet, there is something obscenely entertaining about watching the gangs duke it out. It’s like running to the scene of a plane wreck to see the carnage and search for any survivors. It’s horrible but you can’t take your eyes off of it.
Dancing in Cook County and Chicago politics is like running in a giant mosh-pit where everybody has razors and guns. You will get cut and occasionally shot, but what a rushJohn
