To the men and women who built the roads, dug the mines, drilled and pumped the oil, erected the buildings and kept the blast furnaces blasting for so many years; I salute you. Men like my father and grand father and women like my mother and grandmother who labored in dirty and dangerous jobs to make a better life for their families are my heroes.
I admire the great strides organized labor made for my grand parents and parents. Yet the offspring of old organized labor flounders helplessly. While wages and benefits decreased for the average American worker, organized labor milks the teat of union dues as if the workers were cash cows for the taking. Union membership is down, real wages are down, benefits are decreasing in availability and quality and yet the leaders of this sinking titanic scream for more money, more union workers money. Oddly, union leaders compensation has gone up as workers wages and benefits have decreased.
Sounds like the multi national corporations, doesn’t it?
